Southern Athletics League event @ Tooting Saturday 17th August

Parkrun tourism @ Tilgate Saturday 24th August

We have not yet had any parents or accompanied juniors join us on our parkrun visits. It'd be great to see you!

I'll publicise this properly in next week's newsletter, but put the date in your diaries! We will meet up to car share.


Junior news


Obstacle Course/Social event @ Bletchingley Saturday 21st September 3-5 PM from Sam Burnett

We have organised a fun session which is open to *all* members of the Junior Academy and Junior section.

The Junior section has over 150 members and we thought some of you may like the opportunity to meet up after the long summer holidays and have a fun session at the beginning of term.

We will have exclusive use of an obstacle course in the beautiful countryside just minutes from Reigate/Reigate in Bletchingley.

You should have received an email about this event on Tuesday 30th July with booking instructions. Please send a message to  if you have not received this email.

Make sure that you book your place now as there are a limited number of places for this event.

MABAC event @ Wimbledon Common Tuesday 6th August 

Well done to all participants! What a fantastic turn-out! Wish I could have been there to join you.

Wimbledon 5K Dash @ Wimbledon 11th August

You can see the results from this event here.

Brilliant effort from all of our participants, and congratulations to Matthew Ryde who was the M40 winner and the M40 Surrey Champion.


Curraghchase 10K @ Ireland 11th August

Frank O'Regan finished in position 10th male with a field of 575 runners, in a time of 42:04. This event is run over a hilly and picturesque course. Fantastic run Frank.


RunDorney Half Marathon @ Dorney Lake 11th August

Matthew Aylott you were spotted at this event! Matthew finished 2nd in a gun time of 1:13:27.


Session @  Battlebridge Tuesday 13th August 7:00PM

The plan for the training session at Battlebridge track is scheduled as follows...

1. Warm up exercises and drills

2. Then Reverse pyramid - Reps.of 7,6,5,4,5,6,7 mins. with 25% recovery (1.75;1.5;1.35;1;1.25 and 1.5 mins) between reps and last minute of each rep at fast pace.

3. Cool down 


Session from YMCA Sovereign Centre Wednesday 14th August 7:00PM 

 Ian Edmonds will be leading the run from the Sovereign Centre on Wednesday. We will be running to Earlswood Lakes. The session will be based on a 1 mile time trail around the lakes.


Session @ Priory Park Thursday 15th August 6:00PM for 6:15PM

There will be a hill session on Thursday in the park.


Sunday Run from Priory Park café Sunday 18th August 9:00AM

No Ian Edmonds this week. In preparation for the Reigate Half I'll be running through Brockham down the old coach road to Dorking and back through Brockham and Betchworth on Sunday. The distance will be just over 12 miles, and I'd hope to be running this at a little more than 9 minutes per mile - out for approx 1 hour 50 minutes or more.

There are options to turn for home early, so for instance if you run back from Brockham (and you know the route or have someone to run with who does so), the distance would be about 9 miles.

You're very welcome to join this run.


What is Kate Knight up to?

This last weekend Kate managed to get a PB in the Salisbury 50km of 9:23:33. Last year Kate recorded a result of 10:54:42. Fantastic improvement Kate!
