RPAC in Portugal

Very early last Saturday morning, an enthusiastic if somewhat bleary-eyed bunch of RPAC Juniors plus associated family members assembled at Gatwick for a 6am flight to Portugal. It was the start of an amazing week, and the culmination of a plan first proposed in a muddy cross-country field when thoughts of running in the sunshine felt like a different world!

The boys U17 team (Sam Stapley, Sammy Rolaston, Will John-Cox and Euan Willis) joined forces with the U17 girls team (Lilah Unwin, Ella Scrase, Nicole Haycock and Emily Haycock) and, led by Coach Dave Mills, stayed at the Victoria Sport & Beach resort for a warm weather training camp.
They were able to train alongside international athletes and para-athletes, all making use of the incredible facilities at the hotel, including running track, XC trails, gym, padel/tennis courts and pool, for the all-important aqua-aerobics. It would be fair to say they also put the all-inclusive hotel dining to good use too (who knew it was possible to fit 5 meals into one day?), whilst the more mature members of the group may also have sampled some local beverages, and everyone enjoyed the hotel entertainment*.
But enough of the fun - there was lots of fantastic running, with all the juniors, and some of the seniors, making the most of the experience. All of them have come home invigorated by the enhanced training and looking forward to the new track season. We thoroughly recommend the venue and wonder if a trip to sunny Albufeira might make its way onto the annual RPAC calendar?
Huge thanks for everyone who attended for making it such a fun week and especially to Claire & Rob Stapley and Dave Mills, for the intense organisation, communication, and general herding required to get us all there and back in one piece!
*Video evidence currently held under lock and key; we will only confirm that Dave and Kerry Rolaston led some new warm up routines in the hotel bar, to the tunes of Sweet Caroline and the Macarena respectively.

Milton Keynes Open

Two RPAC juniors had very successful days at the Milton Keynes Open meeting on Saturday.  Gracie Shade recorded PBs in both the 200m and 800m and Morgan Du Preez came second overall in the U11 Quad kids event, scoring highly in all four events and being the overall winner of the 600m. Well done to both of them.

Summer Evening 10k 2024 - update (by Moray Carey, Acting Race Director)

We've recently received the required permissions (licence and permit) to stage the 2024 edition of the race!

This has allowed us to now book the services of specialist race partners including Medical Despatch, who will be providing professional medical support.

In close collaboration with Sport Systems, we're working towards opening an online store for entries asap.

Our social media team will then be actively publicising the event. We can all play a part by sharing their posts and promoting the race among friends, workmates etc

Watch this space!
