Wednesday 6th July Volunteers Still Needed for Reigate Priory AC's Summer Evening 10K

Thank you to everyone who has responded so far to the call for volunteers for this year's Summer 10k.  We’re well on our way to filling the slots but we still need a lot more to be able to host a safe event for all.

If you volunteered in the past, you appreciate how valuable this event is to our club.  We ask if you would be able to carry out the same role again this year or if you prefer, try a different role.  Any request for a specific role may be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
As well as marshals on course, we need volunteers in all of the following roles (note that this list is not exhaustive):

  • First Aiders
  • Lead bikes
  • Sweep car (& driver)
  • Water station assistance
  • Set up and break-down of the course.

There are also a handful of roles that may be suitable for children/juniors.
We do need a number of people to assist in the set up of the course on Tuesday 5th July from 6pm and on 6th July from 2pm (Battlebridge) or 3pm (Priory Park) so if you can assist with either of those, please respond as such via the link below.
If you wish to run in the race and be cheered on by your fellow club members, friends and/or family en-route, we ask that you to volunteer in some way before or after the race. Alternatively, you can provide a volunteer (or two!) to assist while you're donning your red vest around the streets of Reigate.

If you are available to help in any capacity please register via this link.  There are a number of roles listed and an area where you can state your preference, should you have one.

Thank you in advance for all your help which makes this event a great success.

Membership Renewal

Membership is now overdue and we still have outstanding renewals.  Please can I ask anyone who has not paid to do so as soon as possible as chasing payment is time consuming.  Please let me know if you longer wish to renew, or tick the box on your Love Admin account.  If you don’t want to renew but would like to stay in touch with news, there is an Associate Membership for £5 which will keep you in the loop of club news, please do let me know if you’d like to switch to an Associate Member so I can amend the payment

Hoodie Order

We will be placing a Hoodie Order this coming weekend (11th/12th June) for the red Club hoodies. If you would like to order a hoodie you can do so on Love Admin using the electronic order form under  "Optional Extras".

Give us your results please

If you run in an event, do please let us know your results by emailing . If possible please can you submit them by Sunday evening at the latest as this allows us to meet the deadline for the Surrey Mirror sports pages.

Max Shines at Surrey & Sussex Schools Pentathlon Meeting

Max's Mum Carol Orchard writes :
"Max competed yesterday 1st June at K2 Crawley in the Surrey Schools Pentathlon. Wearing his RPAC vest he did incredibly well. By far the smallest competitor, Max proved that size should never be a hurdle (one of his better events).
Starting the afternoon with a new PB Max highjumped 1.40m to get his campaign off to a good start. 80m hurdles next coming 3rd in his heat with a time of 13.2 sec gave him valuable points on his total. Long jump followed and with a new PB of 5.24m he out jumped the rest of the field to come 1st. Throwing a 4kg shot put for the first time in competition proved a little tricky but 5.95m was certainly a great effort. Lying 4th going into the 800m Max proved again that endurance at the end of 4 other events is always the key and with a time of 2.18.9 gave him a total of 2041 points securing him the bronze medal.
He was in fact the 2nd Surrey athlete in the field as silver went to an athlete from Kent. At a first combined event of this year and at U15 the future looks exciting for Max.
It was an exhausting day for both Max and I and it proves that hard work from Max and his RPAC coaches pays off once again. "
Dave Mills added "Max's performance has earned him a call up to the Surrey Schools team for the English Schools Regional Combined Events Championships being held at K2 over the weekend of 25/26 June. Well done Max! "

Lilah Breaks Club U17W'S  800m Record    -   Again!

Four days after setting a new club U17W'S  800m record at Erith, Lilah was at it again, this time at the Aldershot Open Meeting, where she posted a new PB of 2.14.4.  Lilah is peaking nicely with the Surrey Schools T&F Championships coming up at Kingston on Saturday, followed by an Inter-counties match the following weekend.

Oscar runs big 1500m PB at Watford

Oscar's first 1500m of the season at Watford last Wednesday saw him produce a massive PB finishing in a quick time of 4.07.07. Oscar is in great form!

Jubilee Celebration from Reigate Hill Friday 3rd June

On Friday a group of RPAC runners met at the top of Reigate Hill to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee with a run to Walton Heath and back. The idea was to wear something red, white and blue although clearly some people didn't get the memo smile.  We were blessed with great weather and led by the indomitable Mr Edmonds. Thank you Ian!

Informal Handicap Thursday 9th June

There will be an informal handicap in Priory Park on Thursday evening. People should provide their 10km time to Jas and a handicap will be calculated.
Anyone who has previously taken part in one of the informal handicaps need not provide a new time.

Dorking Tens Sunday 12th June

The Dorking 10 mile race takes place on Sunday 12th June, which incorporates the RPAC 10 mile club championship, the RPAC Grand Prix, the Surrey Road League and the Surrey Ten Mile Road Race Championships, and it's also a great race to boot. Southern Athletics League Sunday 12th June

The second SAL match will take place on Sunday 12th June at Lewes Athletics Track.

The meeting is open to U17s, U20s and Seniors (Vets included) and the timetable of events is attached.

We had some excellent performances and fast times at Match 1 and it would be great if more athletes could join us in Lewes.

The Lewes track is located at the end of Mountfield Road behind the Wave Leisure Centre. The post code of the Leisure Centre is BN7 2XG. Further details including parking information will be circulated before the event to anyone competing.

Match 3 will take place on Saturday 16th July at K2 Crawley and Match 4 on Saturday 13th August at Hastings.
Please respond to us (the SAL Team Managers, Jo Davey and Ginevra Stoneley) if you would like to compete or if you have any questions

Sunday 19th June 10:00AM MABAC @ Holmwood Common

This is our chance to regain second place spot in the league, but we can only do this if we get a good turnout.

At Farnham we lost out to Blackwater Valley because they had twice as many runners as we did. We particularly need more of the ladies to run.

As far as I can tell there are no conflicting local races so why not come and turnout for us?

Sunday 24th July MABAC Surrey Slog Half Marathon

The Surrey Slog Half Marathon is organised by MABAC. It is a major fundraiser for them (in fact it's their only fundraiser this year) and this enables them to stage the regular fixtures throughout the year. As a member club we are required to provide a small number of volunteers to help marshal the race. It takes place around Holmbury Hill near Holmbury St. Mary. If you are able to help out please let me know by emailing .
