Summer Evening 10k by Moray Carey, Acting Race Director

It’s only just over 2 weeks until we host the Summer Evening 10k on Wed 6th July!

Currently we have a few more than 100 entries and we need to dramatically increase this number to make this flagship event financially viable.

Way of helping to achieve this include:

  1. Asking in places where you may have connections or contacts to display the A5 race flyer (available on our website here)
  • sports’ clubs (both athletic and other)
  • fitness groups
  • sports’ shops
  • works and community notice boards

2. Sharing any posts about the race posted on the club’s Facebook page (or creating your own)

Thanks in advance!

Last Few Volunteers Needed for Summer 10K on Wednesday 6th July

We're really close to filling all the slots we need to make this years summer 10km a success. However, we still need the following roles to be fulfilled:

  • On course marshal
  • Wednesday setup (2pm at Battlebridge or 3pm in Priory Park)
  • A large car with driver (& passenger) to follow the sweep car and remove signs from the course

These are the only remaining roles that need fulfilling. if you're available to help with any of these roles please register via this link.

Usha & Colin.

Junior Section News

Wednesday 15th June - Another U17W'S 800m Club Record set by Lilah

Running at an Open Meeting in Watford last Wednesday evening, Lilah Unwin ran her 3rd 800m PB of the month with a speedy 2.13.31. This set another new Club Record in the U17W'S 800m! Following her string of quick times, Lilah has had her place confirmed in the Surrey Schools team for the English Schools T&F Championships in Manchester next month.

Well done Lilah!

Saturday 18th June - ESAA South East Schools Inter-counties T&F Championships, Kingston

Three RPAC Juniors competed for Surrey in the 800m at the South East Schools Inter-counties match on Saturday.

Lilah Unwin ran another quick time (her third consecutive English Schools entry time) to win the Intermediate Girls 800m, with Ella Scrase also putting in a strong run to finish as the 2nd B string runner home, ensuring they both scored well for the Surrey team.

In the Intermediate Boys 800m Samuel Stapley ran his third consecutive sub 2 min time, finishing 2nd.

Great performances by all three against high quality county standard opposition! They helped Surrey to a match winning performance finishing just ahead of Kent with Hampshire in third place.

Sunday 19th June - Ebbisham Boys League - Sutton

We had a great turn out for the latest Ebbisham Boys league event on Sunday. Unusually for a Club whose strength is normally the endurance races we had some great performances in the sprints and long jump. We won both the U13 A and B sprints and U13 A and B long jump with Michael Maguire and Mateo Mahop winning both their events. Louis Gibson ran PBs in both the 100 and 200m ,as did Max Orchard in the 200m, Evan Moffat in the 100m and Jonah Pocock in both the 100m and 200m.  Mateo/Jonah/Evan and a Dorking athlete, it is a combined team, then comfortably won the 4 X 100m relay to ensure we finished the day on a high.
The endurance runners were not to be outdone Buddy Kedgley took 7 seconds off his 800m PB in winning the U15 800 and Lucian Watkins and James Beatty both ran strong races in the U13 1,500m.
It was good to see a number of U11 athletes competing, some in their first event for the Club. Gillies Macgregor, Piers Matthews, Isaac Armitage and Rafi Varah all ran a very competitive 600m time, finishing within a second of each other. Jake Eggleton and Ludo Blennerhassett achieved PBs in the 75m.
