GoCardless Emails

Some members will have received a notification that their GoCardless Direct Debit mandate with the club has been cancelled. This is the former DD payment system that we used before we moved to LoveAdmin, so this has no effect on current payments.

Fundraising for the World Scout Jamboree

After a really challenging selection process three members of our Junior Section have been lucky enough to have been selected to go to the 25th World Scout Jamboree in August 2023 which is being held in South Korea! They are now fundraising to help pay for this trip of a lifetime. If you can support any or all of them I am certain that they would be be hugely grateful.

Euan Willis and Will John-Cox who are members of local Scout groups are each planning to run/swim/cycle 550 miles to represent the 5500 miles between Reigate and Seoul. Please check out their JustGiving pages below for more detail and follow them on Strava to see how they’re doing.

Charlotte Pelekani has been selected to represent UK Girl Guiding at the Jamboree. She is one of nine Guides from South East and Greater London and is thrilled to be going. She is organising a number of events over the coming months, including organising group litter picking sessions in Reigate (because the focus of the Jamboree is the environment and sustainability) and a quiz night. Her JustGiving page has more information and she would be very grateful for any support.

Goring Gap Ultra 15th May 2022

David Neumann completed the Goring Gap Ultra (52 KM) last Sunday (15th May). This is a trail race that runs by the Thames at the foot of the Chiltern Hills.

David reports that it was his first (and he says probably his  only laughing) Ultra Marathon.
David finished in 264th position and was 16th in his age category. His finish time was 07:40. Great stuff David!

50 Mile North Downs Way Centurion Run 21st May 2022

On Saturday, Rich Friar and Jon Payn undertook the epic 50 mile North Downs Way Centurion Run. I am reliably informed that the course was actually 51.5 miles long!

The race begins in Farnham at the western end of the North Downs, traveling past Puttenham and Guildford following the North Downs Way National Trail. The course then continues on to Ranmore Common before the steepest climb of the race up to the top of Box Hill. The trail then drops down the other side and back up Colley Hill, on through Merstham to Oxted and a further 8 miles to Knockholt Pound and the finish. The total climb is some 5600 feet.

Rich finished in 09:24:37.  Lisa writes of Jon "He was well prepared and knew the route but nothing but running that distance can really prepare you.  He finished in a time of 10h 21m 9s.  Absolutely awesome effort! "

Really impressive running gents; well done both of you!

Windermere Marathon

Lisa Ashley completed the Windermere Marathon yesterday in a time of 4.21.

Lisa reports "It was tough, hilly and very wet! If anyone wants a challenging marathon give this one a go!"
You're not selling it Lisa, but very well done !

Hogsmill 5 Mile  Race Sunday 22nd May 2022

Lisa Payn writes "I think I was the only RPAC runner at the Hogsmill women’s race today. Finished in 35th place (out of 160) with a time of 45:19. It was hot! Lovely course though through parks and quiet streets. "

Well done Lisa!

Conner The Spartan

Conner Wickens took part in the London West Trifecta Weekend held in Henley-On-Thames on 7th and 8th May. Conner did rather well, finishing in first place in the 25-29 age category in both the Spartan Beast race (14.2 miles with 30 obstacles and a elevation of 2,418ft ) held on the Saturday and in the Spartan Sprint race  (4.9 miles with 20 obstacles and elevation of 889ft ) held on the Sunday. Absolutely brilliant Connner!

Annette Breaks Her Own Record

Impressive as always, Annette Morris broke her own Brooklands Parkrun course record in the W65-69 age category record by 6 seconds on Saturday, finishing as 3rd lady overall in 24:14. She topped the age grading with 84.95. Wow Annette there is no stopping you!

Presentation to Viv Burgess Saturday 21st May 2022

Viv Burgess (pictured above) graduated from the Reigate Priory AC Couch to 5K Programme in July 2021.

Viv found the first week of the Couch to 5K to be a real challenge, stopping in the first minute of running, but after a week or so not only did she find that she could complete the running sessions, but she also discovered how rewarding running was for her.

After completing the course she joined our club and continued running with our groups. She ran the RunReigate 5K race on 19th September 2021 in a time of 51:31, the fastest 5Km she had run by some way.

Unfortunately, Viv has been injured for some time, but she's hoping to be back running with the club soon.

After the Couch to 5K / Saturday Social running groups last Saturday Viv was presented with the lady V45 5K club award for her RunReigate time (she was away at the time of the awards evening). She's pictured above beaming after receiving her trophy.

Reigate Priory AC Grand Prix 2022

You may or may not realise that there is a club Grand Prix competition this year, and if you have not taken part in it yet there's plenty of opportunity.

With thanks to Rick Coles you can read all about the Grand Prix including the included events and current standings here.

Sunday 12th June Dorking Tens

Note that the Dorking 10 mile race takes place on Sunday 12th June, which incorporates the RPAC 10 mile club championship, the RPAC Grand Prix, the Surrey Road League and the Surrey Ten Mile Road Race Championships, and it's also a great race to boot. https://www.dmvac.org/events/dorking-tens/

MABAC Holmwood Common Sunday 19th June 10:00AM

This is our chance to regain second place spot in the league, but we can only do this if we get a good turnout.

At Farnham we lost out to Blackwater Valley because they had twice as many runners as we did. We particularly need more of the faster ladies to run.

As far as I can tell there are no conflicting local races so why not come and turnout for us?
