Junior Section News

Saturday and Sunday 14th 15th May - Surrey Track and Field Championships, Kingston

A hot and sunny Saturday saw a busy schedule on the first day of the Surrey T&F Championships held in Kingston.

First up for RPAC were U13G'S Neve MacGregor and Florence Tombleson in the final of the 1500m. With the final divided into two races due to the number of entrants, both Neve and Florence finished 6th in their respective races. Florence's first 1500 but for Neve a big PB taking 15 seconds off her previous best time!

The heats for the U13G'S 800m saw Lisette Matthews, in her first 800m race, qualify for Sunday's final with an excellent time of 2.38.85. Isla Kinniburgh missed out on the final but her time of 2.41.68 took a full 19 seconds off her previous PB! Lisette returned on Sunday morning to finish 7th in the 800m Final. An excellent achievement having only turned 11 years old this month.

Max Orchard, (far right in the photo above) stepping up to U15 this year, took the Bronze Medal in the 80mH in a quick time of 13.20. Max returned on Sunday to finish 5th in the U15B'S long jump final with a PB jump of 5.13m.

The heats of the U13G'S 100m saw Eloise Matthews and Isla Kinniburgh (after her earlier 800m heat!) both finish 4th and just miss out on progressing to the semifinal.

Meanwhile, Michael Maguire and Mateo Mahop were in spectacular action in the U13B'S long-jump with Michael taking Gold and Mateo Bronze! Michael's jump of 5.19m was a new club U13B's outdoor record, and just short of his own indoor PB of 5.20m.

With the heat growing through the afternoon, the U17 800m heats began. All our U17 competitors have stepped up this year from U15 last year. Samuel Stapley eased through his heat in 1st place, and in the U17W'S heats, Lilah Unwin also came 1st with Ella Scrase 2nd to ensure all three qualified for their finals.

Cara Koutzaroff-Richards finished 5th missing qualification by less than 1 second, and Sophia Bryant also missed out despite a strong run and sixth place in her heat.

Late in the afternoon, a series of finals arrived with U17 Euan Willis first off in the final of the U17B's 1500m. A strong performance from Euan saw him home in 4th place with a PB time of 4.24.97! An excellent run in a very strong field.

Next up Samuel Stapley ran a brave 800m leading at the final bend and finishing 3rd to take Bronze in a quick 2.00.99. 1st and 2nd both ran in the 1.59's in a tight 3 way finish at the line.

This was followed by the U17W'S 800m final which saw Lilah Unwin take the Silver Medal and Ella Scrase Bronze! Lilah had another sub 2.20 time, and for Ella there was a big PB with 2.22.97.

Sunday was a lot cooler! There were more medals to come though.

Oscar Curry ran a fantastic race to come home 1st with a PB and breaking the 2min barrier in the final of the U20M's 800m! Gold for Oscar in 1.59.39!

In the U20M's high jump it was Gold for Dan Statham with a clearance of 1m.80, just short of his PB.

U13 Mateo Mahop returned on Sunday to compete in the 100m where a new PB time of 13.83 in the heat saw him qualify for the final and take 7th place. A good weekend for Mateo.

A good return of medals for the RPAC Juniors including three Golds at these major athletics championships.

As ever a big thank you goes out to all the officials especially those from RPAC with long hours put in.

Reigate Priory AC Grand Prix 2022

You may or may not realise that there is a club Grand Prix competition this year, and if you have not taken part in it yet there's plenty of opportunity.

With thanks to Rick Coles you can read all about the Grand Prix including the included events and current standings here.

Sunday 12th June Dorking Tens

Note that the Dorking 10 mile race takes place on Sunday 12th June, which incorporates the RPAC 10 mile club championship, the RPAC Grand Prix, the Surrey Road League and the Surrey Ten Mile Road Race Championships, and it's also a great race to boot.

MABAC Holmwood Common Sunday 19th June 10:00AM

This is our chance to regain second place spot in the league, but we can only do this if we get a good turnout.

At Farnham we lost out to Blackwater Valley because they had twice as many runners as we did. We particularly need more of the faster ladies to run.

As far as I can tell there are no conflicting local races so why not come and turnout for us?

Monday 2nd May Vitality 10K

Sorry - I missed this race result out last week. You can see our club results here.

Sunday 15th May Sutton 10K - Surrey Road League

Sunday saw the second fixture of the Surrey Road League at the Sutton 10k.

The Sutton 10k takes place in the beautiful Nonsuch Park and is run on a mix of road and paths in the park.

The well marshalled race is a 2 lap course passing through Nonsuch Park Cheam Park and the surrounding roads.

Thankfully the weather wasn’t as hot as Saturday but still many found it humid and surprisingly hilly!

First back for the club was Tom Almond in 33.53 and 6th overall. Next and continuing his fine running form was Rob Wigley 36.51 with Neil Fenwick hot on his heels finishing in 36.59 and Alex Mansfield in 37.03 completing the men's team.  Steve Bass crossed the line in 38.44.  Ben Stanton 39.48, Jack Finn 48.57 and Malcolm Woodman 55.24.

Nat Wilson led the ladies team in with a time of 39.43 with Ginevra Stoneley not far behind in 39.58.  Jo Davey recorded a PB in 40.44 and completed the ladies scoring team.  Next in was Jamilla Ncayiyana in 43.29, Ruth Willis 45.13, Liz Mason 58.36 and Kelly Mason 1.01.

Nat Wilson picked up the prize for 2nd V40 and Ginevra 3rd V40.

Sunday 15th May Jurassic Coast Challenge
