On Saturday 11th May Reigate Priory AC went to Lancing Beach Green for fixture 3 of the 2024 parkrun tourism schedule.

The A27 main road was closed east of Lancing, limiting our routes south, and the coastal road past the Lancing Beach Green car park was really busy, but we all managed to arrive with time to spare.

The start/finish is quite close to the "Perch on Lancing Beach" café. The parkrun route heads east on a grass surface for about half a km, where you turn around 180 degrees to pass by the start again and head up a concrete path to run an out-and-back eastwards of about 2 km in length. It is a pretty fast route, with the majority of it being on a flat firm surface. Conditions were good, with sun and little breeze.

There were 9 of us from RPAC on the day. We were joined by our son Sam and his partner. Our RPAC friend and ex-member Brian Churchard was volunteering at the parkrun.

Here are the RPAC results from Lancing Beach Green parkrun...

Congratulations to Hydi Ashley, who is the first Reigate Priory AC member to obtain a parkrun PB during the 2024 parkrun tourism season.

You can see the current standings of our fun competition here. As it stands I'm heading up the competition for 2024 for the men, and Hydi is heading up the leader board for the ladies, which is hotly contested!

We ended up in the Perch on Lancing Beach café, where some sat inside for a full breakfast, and others preferred an ice cream in the sun outside. We met up with Brian in the café together with the other volunteers.

We hope to see you at our next venue, Kingdom parkrun on Saturday 8th June.
