We may cancel the session on Tuesday. We will make a decision on the day at 4pm, so people should check email, Facebook, twitter before going to training.
Don't Forget Your Water Bottle
As it's going to be very hot for the next few days please be sensible and take a water bottle if you run. We don't want any medical emergencies.
Wednesday 20th July SCVAC Veterans Track & Field League
The third fixture in the Vets T&F League is at Croydon on Wednesday evening, 20th July, with the field events starting at 6.30 pm and the track at 7 pm. It looks like it’s going to be cooling down (a bit), so should be okay for competing!
You should have received an email last week. If you haven’t already responded, please read and reply accordingly by no later than tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. If you can't find the email do please contact us on .
Thursday 21st July Club Handicap in Priory Park
This Thursday will be our informal handicap in the Priory Park with the clock starting at 7pm. If you haven’t taken part this season, please let Jas/Usha/Nat know a recent 10k time so that your handicap can be calculated. The course is just short of 5 miles and is run entirely within the park.
There will be someone watching valuables whilst you run if you need to leave anything.
After the handicap we will be heading to the pub for a few drinks should you wish to come along.
Tuesday 2nd August 7:30PM MABAC @ Wimbledon Common
We're currently lying in second place in the league so it would be great to get another strong turnout from RPAC for this event.
This is always a good event which starts and finishes at Wimbledon Rugby Club. It's close to the A3 so it's easy to find for a change AND there's lots of parking.
The bar is open and there is some usually free snacks so we can have a bit of a social afterwards.
More details are here MABAC - Wimbledon Common - Wimbledon Windmilers - Mabac Running league
Details regarding lifts and car sharing to follow nearer the event. Let's make it a good one!
Wednesday 6th July Reigate Priory AC Summer 10K

Saturday 16th July Couch to 5K Graduation

Thanks to all of you who turned out to run and support.
Saturday 16th July Elmore 7
In the past I've found that the Elmore 7 can be oppressive in the heat, and I doubt if Saturday was any exception. Tom Almond finished in 3rd place - well done to Tom and all of our participants.
Results from the club can be seen here and photos can be seen here courtesy of SLH.
Sunday 17th July Harry Hawkes Summer Raceday 10 miles
Liz Mason ran this race in the summer sun.
Liz reports that it was unbearably hot, and was reasonably pleased with 1 hour 40min 31 sec finishing time. Liz won her age group too. Congratulations Liz!
(Liz's daughter Kelly had to pull out unfortunately due to the heat.)
Sunday 17th July Oisans Trail Tour
After multiple cancelled flights and Tour de France road closures attempting to scupper his plans, Rich Friar completed the Oisans Trail Tour in the alps in 4 hrs 54 mins in 12th place.
The run was 40 km with a 2000 metre assent, all at altitude and at 30 plus degree heat!
Wednesday 13th July - Wakehurst Willow 2022 by Moray Carey
The Wakehurst Willow 8k is an incomparable event which provides the unique opportunity of running within the grounds of Wakehurst, 200 hectares of diverse landscapes, ornamental gardens, woodlands and a nature reserve managed by Kew Gardens on behalf of the National Trust.
The challenging, 2-lap, multi terrain course starts from the Stables restaurant then meanders around the perimeter of the botanical gardens over tracks, trails and paths passing flora from around the world, giant redwood trees, lakes and the world-famous Millennium Seedbank.
Due to the undulating nature of the landscape, there’s a precipitous descent to negotiate down into the Loder Valley and, later, a compensating steep ascent!
The latest edition took place on after closing time on Wed 13th July after a 2 year absence due to Covid.
The course was well Marshalled by enthusiastic members of Haywards Heath Harriers, who organise the race, and there were excellent facilities – ample free parking, loos and refreshments were available from the coffee shop.
The race was chip timed and the 298 finishers, predominantly from Sussex clubs, received a commemorative wooden medal. The fastest 2 men and women also received a trophy plus a Friends of Wakehurst annual membership.
RPAC team and the Blue Anchor quiz
We made our final appearance in the quiz before the summer recess on Thursday 7th July - Paul Walters, Sue Carnell, Moray Laing, Ian Moore, Janet Moore and Stewart McIntyre. We won, with the proceeds (as usual) going to the YMCA.
Next quiz is in early September.
