Run Reigate 2021
Don't forget that this year's Run Reigate event is being held on Sunday 19th September from 09:00. At the time of writing there are still spaces available in the half marathon, 10K, 5K and children's races, although I'm told that aren't many spaces left.
Details of how to enter are here. RPAC has always been well represented in the longer races and I am sure this year will be no exception. There is also an option of virtual races if you don't fancy running in a crowd.
RPAC and Run Reigate have always had a good relationship and have provided support and publicity for eachother's events.
If you are not running at Run Reigate how about volunteering for the Run Reigate Race Crew? Full details are here. All volunteers will get a free place in either Run Gatwick or Run Reigate next year.
Advance warning of events particularly for volunteers
There will be a Priory Relays in Priory Park this year - November date yet to be finalised, but we will let you know, and the Holly Run will be on Sunday 12th December.
Give us your results please
If you run in an event, do please let us know your results by emailing . If possible please can you submit them by Sunday evening at the latest as this allows us to meet the deadline for the Surrey Mirror sports pages.

Saturday 21st August The Shere 42km Trial Marathon
Here he is - the latest member of the 100 marathon club! Jim told us that he managed to finish this event in a "sociable" 5 hours 57 minutes. He said "I could’ve picked an easier one as it was a little hilly with 3,500ft of climb but some beautiful scenery".
Leanne McKeogh participated in the Shere Marathon on Saturday, finishing in a time of 6:13:51.
Kate Knight completed the Shere Marathon on Saturday, and followed this up with participation in the Thorpe and Egham Half on Sunday.
Saturday 21st August The Shere 10K - by Moray Carey
The rugged countryside surrounding the attractive village of Shere provided the rural setting for a series of trail runs plotted over challenging courses on Sat 21st Aug.
The shortest distance was 10k but there were also options of 21k and 42k which Jim Vince selected as his 100th marathon.
Unfortunately, I didn’t see Jim to wish him luck since the 10k race in which I was running had a later start time but I did encounter fellow RPAC member, Jeremy, immediately noticeable in the distinctive RPAC running vest.
After a mini circuit of the field behind the Shere Village Hall, the multi terrain route climbed the precipitous London Lane passing under the A25 and rising continuously within a tree lined corridor.
Because this is “byway open to all traffic” (BOAT), vehicular use had created water filled trenches leaving the attempted negotiation of the uneven, flint encrusted banks as the only alternative way forward.
The steady climb of almost 2 kms comprises practically one fifth of the entire 10k course! After reaching level ground, the route meandered in and out of woodland tracks and trails where cyclists, walkers and horse riders were occasionally encountered.
Tackling the 10k course required semi orienteering skills, due to the general absence of Marshals, but following direction arrows hand painted on the ground and ribbons suspended from branches added to the sense of adventure.
A race official kindly offered fruit and jelly babies at a feed station at about 6k and a bit further on a clearing had been carved out of the woodland revealing the charmingly named Honeysuckle Bottom Sawmill. Peering out of one of the barns was a character with a long, straggly, bushy beard resembling one of the guitarists from ZZ Top!!
After overcoming one further incline, the paths were reasonably level before re-joining London Lane for the long descent back to the field for the final few hundred metres to the finishing line to claim the race mementos – a wooden medal and a t-shirt.
I had intended running solo but, for most of the race, I was paced by and chatted to local Shere resident, Mike Keeble. By the time we re-entered the field he was a good 15-20 seconds in front of me but he paused for me to catch up with him so we could finish the race together.
An altruistic act of sportsmanship to crown an exhilarating race!
Sunday 22nd August The Big Half
Tom Almond and George Roux ran in The Big Half on Sunday. Tom finished in a time of 1:12:18 and George finished in a time of 1:14:12.
Mike Wylie finished The Big Half in a time of 1:26:24.
Steve Watkins ran in this event despite injury, finishing in 1:55:34.
Apologies if there were other entrants from the club that we've missed - let us know. Well done guys!
Sunday 22nd August Gatliff Ultra
