Club News for Everyone
I hope this newsletter finds you and your families all keeping safe and well. Who knows what the next few days or weeks will bring, but at the moment we are still allowed to operate training sessions as we have been doing. Let's hope it stays that way.
RPAC Officials Back In Action
RPAC track and field officials were back in action at K2 in Crawley last Sunday (13th September), officiating at the Crawley AC Club Championships.
Naomi writes that RPAC were the only club apart from Crawley AC to supply any officials. She adds that there are two schools of thought on this; either Crawley like any other club doesn't have enough officials to run meetings without help, or RPAC officials are so highly regarded that they were the only officials to be invited to help out. We all subscribe to the latter opinion, of course!

Virtual Run Reigate
At the time of writing there are still a few places left for the adult races for Virtual Run Reigate but I believe that the junior races are now sold out. There are 5K, 10K and Half Marathon distances for adults (all £15 entry fee) and 1 mile and cumulative Half Marathon distances for juniors (both £15 entry fee which includes a donation to the Stripey Stork charity). Your chosen distance can be run at any time from 1st-30th September inclusive and you can enter here. I know that a few RPAC runners have already completed the virtual race.
Junior Training Sessions
Training for the U11s has resumed on Saturday mornings. We are still constrained by EA guidelines as to the permissible number of athletes per coach and so will each week be asking who wishes to attend so that we can manage the numbers.
Senior Training Survey
Please take the time to complete the Doodle survey about senior training sessions by this Friday, 25th September. You should have received an email from Malcolm about this, but in case you have not the survey can be accessed here.
Premium Racing Vests
Tom is in the process of having a small batch of premium quality RPAC vests made by the British company SOAR. These will be an alternative to the current "standard" vests and are ultra lightweight making them perfect for marathons or warmer weather racing. Tom and Fran will have some samples at track sessions over the next couple of weeks so you could try out the sizes and feel the (lack of) weight of the vests if you are interested in ordering one. The cost of the vests is £60 so it is recognised that these won't be for everyone. If you have any questions please contact Tom ()
Saturday Running Group
It's nice to see the Saturday Running Group continues to go from strength to strength. This group is formed around a nucleus of our Couch to 5K graduates but is open to all. Please contact Paul () if you want to join in.
The group meets in Priory Park at 10:30 each Saturday for a run and a coffee afterwards.

Well done to Jenny Barrett for being the only person to submit any evidence for completing any of the Rungo challenges. If you haven't met her, Jenny is one of our Couch to 5K graduates.
Jenny writes "Whilst I was never going to complete sufficient tasks to win Jack's 'Rungo', I thought I would use them as a series of challenges. I did run three times a week for both weeks, ran round the lagoons at Watercolour, went for a 6am run and have just completed the 3 pub run. Good fun!" Jenny didn't say whether she'd stopped for a drink in each of the pubs though.
Kate's Latest Achievements
Kate Knight continues to go from strength to strength and has had another busy week. She writes that she has recently done a trail marathon in 7 hours 49 minutes, her first sub 8 hour trail marathon for a few years and an improvement of 1 hour 15 minutes on last year. Unfortunately I do not have the details of where the marathon took place. She has also just completed the Virtual Run Reigate Half Marathon in 3:01:49 which is a new PB for her on that course by 10 minutes.
Visibility at Evening Training
As the nights are drawing in, we need runners who are attending evening sessions to consider wearing high visibility clothing. We do have club branded hi viz bibs available on the iProSports club zone (https://www.iprosports.co.uk/club-zone/reigate-priory-athletic-club/) and are looking to offer new branded gear via this site shortly. Hi viz and torches are mandatory for the Wednesday evening session from The Sovereign Centre.
Senior Training Sessions
You can see the participants of the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday coached sessions here. There are now more than 12 participants on each list, and going forward the numbers for each group will depend on participants occasionally not being able to make an individual session (such as holiday or injury) to limit the groups to 12 people per session. If you know that you can't make a particular session please try to let us know so that your place can be reallocated.
Ian Edmonds is now running an additional "Recovery and Improvers" session starting at 6pm on Mondays from Battlebridge. Please note that this is not a track session.
Keep in touch
It's more important than ever that we keep in touch with each other at this time. Stay safe everybody. Please let us know if there is anything you'd like to see in the newsletter.
