The last Southern Athletics League meet of the season took place on Saturday 17th August at Tooting Bec. Nine RPAC athletes (Thomas Almond, Eloise Bull, Graham Bull, Jo Davey, Dave Rayner, Dan Statham, Ginevra Stoneley, Anousha Wardley and Malcolm Woodman) took part, the largest RPAC turnout of the season, despite a couple of our regular competitors choosing to holiday instead.
A successful and fun day was had. A number of the athletes competed in multiple events - a special mention going to Anousha who was extremely busy - competing in the pole vault, 100m hurdles, high jump and the women’s relay. Highlights include pbs for Tom -16 mins 24.1s, Graham 19 mins 23.3s in the 5000m (admittedly Graham's first 5000m on a track) and Ginevra 10 mins 48.5s in the 3000m (slashing 8 seconds from her PB), wins for all the women middle distance runners and an all RPAC women's 4x 100 relay. Full results can be found here.
In the overall competition, the combined Holland Sports / Dorking & Mole Valley / RPAC team finished 4th out of 5, but just one point behind 3rd place, with our highest points total of the year.
Pictures are of Dan in the high jump, the "oldies" in the 4 x 100m relay and the complete 4 x 100m team (still smiling!).
Hopefully after a winter’s training more of you will be tempted to join us in 2020!
