To All Seniors, Older Juniors and Parents of Juniors,
You may remember when you submitted your membership forms that the form includes the statement "One of the conditions of membership of RPAC is that all members, parents and carers help with club activities". These activities include helping at the league and open races we organise. Not only do the open races raise much needed funds for the club, but they and the league matches allow us to provide competitive opportunities for all our members throughout the year.
I would therefore strongly encourage everyone to carefully read the e-mail below from Sam & Usha, and reply to them as soon as possible if you are able to help at the Surrey League cross-country on 12th October. Even if you are not available to help then, please put the other 2 dates in your diaries!
Malcolm Woodman, Chair
We have 3 races that we are hosting over the next 3 months and need assistance in ensuring they can take place.
1. Surrey League Cross Country - Saturday 12th October
We have a number of races starting from 11am so need two sets of volunteers, plus additional assistance in setup/breakdown.
The volunteer session times are:
10.30am - 1pm
12.30pm - 3pm
If you are available from 10.30 am until 3 pm, there is nothing to stop you doing both sessions.
As the race times cover men, ladies and junior girls, we're hoping we can draw volunteers from parents as well as those seniors to cover all races. There is an easy opportunity for the ladies to cover the men's races & vice versa here.
2. Priory Relays - Saturday 2nd November
3. Holly Run - Sunday 15th December
Further calls for volunteers for these two latter races will be made nearer the dates.
In the meantime, if you can spare a few hours to volunteer at the cross country races on 12th October, please let us know ()
Many thanks in advance.
Sam & Usha
Hi – Just wondering if you might be able to publicise to your members the eighth (and sadly final) 10k Jigsaw Run round Dunsfold Park airfield near Cranleigh and Godalming on Sunday 24 November at 10.30am. It’s the last one before work starts on developing the site. It’s fast and flat and takes in part of the BBC Top Gear track. £21 to affiliated runners. The field is being extended to 500 runners this year. Details and online entry forms are at www.jigsawrun.co.uk. Thanks a lot! Regards John Kavanagh Volunteer at Jigsaw Trust
Yesterday saw the launch of #gocoach, a fantastic new campaign from England Athletics hoping to attract 10,000 new athletics coaches and run leaders by 2020.
Coaches are essential to the survival of our wonderful sport and we’re asking if you could share news about this important campaign across your own social media channels?
There are two ways they can get involved and it couldn’t be easier…
- Encourage people to find out more about the campaign
Share the link to the #gocoach website http://gocoach.englandathletics.org and encourage people to find out more about becoming a coach or run leader
- Thank their own coach(es)
Share a photo of your coach and tag the image with #gocoach #thankyou
‘A massive #thankyou to my own coach <INSERT NAME> as @EnglandAthletic launch the #gocoach campaign to find 10,000 new coaches by 2020’
