Last Tuesday (1st August) saw 16 RPAC runners travel over to Wimbledon to compete in the latest race as part of the MABAC league. In contrast to all the previous runs which have always taken place on a Sunday morning the Wimbledon event was a 7-30 pm start time.

Upon arrival at race Headquarters, Wimbledon Rugby Football Club, we were greeted by a well organised team of car park marshals. HQ consisted of a modern club house complete with a bar and well stocked buffet for hungry runners upon completion of the race!

The actual race itself, a double loop 5 mile course, consisted of a mix of trails and gravel pathways undulating through the beautiful Wimbledon woodlands with a couple of challenging hills thrown in for good measure.

With 16 RPAC runners out on the course it was Brian Kelly who lead the team home in a time of 33-40 finishing in 37th place overall, closely followed by David Blayney (34-06) and Mike Scott (34-40). First RPAC Lady home in a time of 34-59 was Sonia Galloway. Ginevra Stoneley ran a time of 35-32 with third placed RPAC lady Mel Fulton-Bell finishing in a time of 41-14. Full individual and team results are available on the website here.

Special thanks to all those who made the effort to travel over to Wimbledon and compete for RPAC. Particularly those runners who were competing in their first MABAC. We hope you all enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you at future MABACs as well as hopefully a few more new faces.
